Recently, according to the list of unqualified imported wines in Feb. 2017 issued by General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People’s Republic of China, three batches of imported wines (totally 10.543 tons) were destroyed or withdrawn for the disqualification while being checked out by Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau. The disqualification is caused by exceeded iron. Thereinto, two batches are from France and one batch from Chile.
Reportedly, high content of iron in the wine can not only influence the taste but also make the wine generate precipitate as well as accelerate the process of oxidation & decay. For unqualified distilleries, the grapes are often packed in many iron products in the processes of picking, transportation, brewing and storage. The component of iron products penetrates into the wine and increases its iron content. Consequently, the estate bottled wines are quite different from the wines produced in distilleries.
